John Carter, AIA has over 40 years of architecture and planning experience. He is presently a Fairfax County Planning Commissioner. John was the former Chief of the Community-Based Planning Division in the Montgomery County Planning Department, and an Associate with Perkins and Will Architects. Mr. Carter has participated in the preparation of over 30 approved master plans for towns, neighborhoods, rural communities, historic places, and the preservation of agricultural and rural open space. John has a Bachelor of Architecture, a Master of Architecture in Urban Design and a Master's in Planning. John Carter is a licensed architect, and a member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Architects.
